Press Release Summary: Relaunched blog offers popular, censorship-free content at a
glance

Press Release Body: October 22, 2008 - Cleveland, OH - When popular blog elsewhen:
rants & raves (http://elsewhenreturns.blogspot.com) first appeared in 2001, blogs
were few and far between, and primarily chronicled the lives of their creators.
David Maurer, elsewhen's creator, saw an opportunity to do something more.

"I've always been a news hound," says Maurer. "Blogging is an opportunity to draw
attention to important stories that people might otherwise miss. It also allows me
to dig a little deeper than traditional media has time to these days. I kept seeing
news stories that consistently failed to connect the dots."

As corporate blogs began to appear and personal blogs focused on single topics,
elsewhen continued to offer variety. Its mix of politics, humor, corporate
malfeasance, and history eventually drew an average of 10,000 unique visitors a day.

"I like the idea of newspapers and magazines, where there's a variety of content in
a single place, " Maurer explains. "The difference with elsewhen is that stories
have several links to related material, rather than ads, they're usually only 4 - 5
paragraphs long, and we don't include things like sports, horoscopes, comics,
classified ads, and local news. That lets us include comedy and the occasional nude
celebrity - popular content that people would normally go to specialty sites for."

When he took a day job in the PR industry, Maurer found himself faced with a
potential conflict of interest. elsewhen stories frequently concentrated on
corporations that committed unethical acts - stories often avoided by traditional
media because they depend on those same corporations for ad revenue.

"I couldn't very well avoid writing about these companies and still take look myself
in the eye, but I didn't think that it was fair to take money from them on the one
hand and rake them over the coals on the other. Rather than compromise my ethics, I
shut elsewhen down."

When Maurer left the PR industry in June of 2008, he immediately relaunched
elsewhen, starting from scratch. Blogging had evolved in the interim, offering
improved technology, including the ability to see that many elsewhen returns readers
come from overseas. Maurer also found that most current blogs concentrate on a
single topic, forcing readers to jump from blog to blog to find information that
they are interested in. Now christened elsewhen returns
(http://elsewhenreturns.blogspot.com) , Maurer's blog continues to offer variety -
including the popular 'ounce of flesh' section.

"It's kind of like Page 3 in the UK," laughs Maurer. "But I like to add some
relevance, too, like commentary on the actress's roles, personal life, and place in
history. Especially with actresses that were popular in the 80's, where the films
that they were in defined their generation."

Originally launched in 2001, elsewhen returns (http://elsewhenreturns.blogspot.com)
continues to offer a variety of content not found in any other blog or news source.
